DURATION: Approximately 6 minutes
Written for a mixed sextet of flute, trumpet, electric guitar, harp, piano, and double bass, the music of TREMOR is centered around a series of large ensemble “impacts”, which are followed by ever-increasing periods of rhythmic reverberation and pulsation. These tremors grow in strength as the piece progresses, culminating in a chaotic and forceful overlapping “riff” which falls apart in the wake of several final impacts.
TREMOR was written as part of the Riot Ensemble Sextet Project at the Royal Academy of Music, in collaboration with Aaron Holloway-Nahum and the Riot Ensemble.
